Billy Casper Golf Selected to Manage the New 1757 Golf Club in Northern Virginia
Dulles, Virginia, May 13, 2009 – Billy Casper Golf (“BCG”) – the nation’s fourth largest golf-course owner and operator – will manage, on behalf of a BCG affiliate, the new 1757 Golf Club situated on 200 acres between Beaumeade Corporate Park and Dulles 28 Centre on Waxpool Road (Route 625) and Pacific Boulevard in Dulles, VA.
As tenant under a long-term ground lease with Beaumeade Dulles 28 Golf Associates, LLC (an affiliate of Lerner Enterprises and The Tower Companies both of Rockville, Maryland), 1757 Golf, LLC has appointed Billy Casper Golf to direct the 1757 Golf Club’s new course construction, maintenance, staffing and training, clubhouse operations, golf instruction, marketing and public relations, special events and financial management.
Named after the yea Loudoun County was established, the 1757 Golf Club will be open for use by the public. The driving range – with 76 hitting stations, including 20 on grass and lighted for night play – is scheduled to open at 7 a.m. daily beginning Friday, May 15. PGA instruction will be offered later this month, as will limited clubhouse access.
Nine holes will open for nine- and 18-hole rounds around Memorial Day. The full, 18-hole championship course – expertly designed by architect David Heatwole, formerly with Jack Nicklaus’ design company – is slated for completion and opening in spring 2010.
1757 Golf Club will become part of Dulles 28 Centre – a joint development of Lerner Enterprises and The Tower Companies – a 300-acre master planned retail, hotel, and golf destination at the intersection of Waxpool Road, Pacific Boulevard and Route 28 in Dulles, VA.
“We are delighted to have Billy Casper Golf, known for its innovative and customer-centric management practices, establish Dulles 28 Centre and the 1757 Golf Club as a one-of-a-kind lifestyle shopping and golfing experience in Loudoun County, Virginia,” stated Arthur N. Fuccillo, Executive Vice President of Development and Construction for Lerner.
“Billy Casper Golf will introduce 1757 Golf Club as a daily-fee course with premium golf experiences at price points slightly below market,” says Pete Hill, Chairman and CEO of BCG. “We take great pride in completing and launching this golf course and practice facility, paying keen attention to detail in course layout and conditions, and customer service.”
1757 Golf Club is routed through gently rolling terrain with elevation changes up to 30 feet. Dramatic views of Broad Run and the majestic Virginia landscape keep golfers visually stimulated, and streams and creeks place premiums on shot-making. The course design, featuring bentgrass tee-to-green, calls for golfers to use every club in the bag while offering fair challenges to all handicappers.
Along with the full, 18-hole course, the richly-appointed, 16,000-square-foot clubhouse is scheduled to open in spring 2010. It celebrates Virginia’s rich presidential history with event rooms named after state natives George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, James Monroe and Woodrow Wilson. A bar, lounge, boardroom, meeting rooms and banquet space (combined seating for 250 people), make 1757 Golf Club a distinguished venue for weddings and other social events. The clubhouse also features two outdoor patios and men’s and women’s locker rooms.
