Dulles, Virginia, June 7 – On June 6, 2005; the Sixth Annual Charity Golf Outing benefiting Loudoun County Special Olympics teed off at Virginia National Golf Course. For the past five years, Lerner Enterprises and Dulles Town Center have been active supporters of the Loudoun County Special Olympics Annual Charity Golf Outing. The event, founded by Dennis Mitchell, has been an overwhelmingly success since its inception.

In 2005, under the direction of Mark D. Lerner and Frank G. Gambino of Lerner Enterprises, over $50,000 was raised for the Special Olympics of Loudoun County. "When we started six years ago with just a few players, I believe that all we anticipated was that we would have a great time, no one in his or her wildest dreams imagined it would grow to this magnitude" states event founder, Dennis Mitchell.

Celebrity golfers and guests included The Hogettes, Former Washington Redskin's Pat Fischer and Ron McDole as well as Murphy and Cash of the popular radio show on BIG 100 FM.

"We are honored to have hosted the tournament in 2005, it has been a very rewarding experience to work with the generous people and companies who are involved with the event" said host, Frank G. Gambino of Lerner Enterprises.

Sponsorships for the event were sold out by mid-April with Angler Development taking the Platinum Sponsor position. Gold Sponsors included Dietze Construction, Lerner Enterprises, and Merritt Properties. Silver sponsors are America Online, Chevy Chase Bank, DBI Architects, HITT Construction, Trinity Group, Tucon Construction Group and Virginia/Cardinal Concrete. 2005 Bronze Sponsors are KTA Group, Keane Enterprises, WDG Architects and US Lawns.v

Loudoun County Special Olympics is one of the most successful athletic programs in Northern Virginia. Training is free to qualified athletes with the average cost to train at $175 per participant per season. Training is paid for by the local chapter. The Loudoun County chapter currently trains 300 athletes. "We are all very excited and appreciate all of the hard work from the tournament volunteer group. Our programs would not be as successful without their continued support" asserts Sarah Tinsley Adaptive Recreation Specialist with Loudoun County Special Olympics.
