LERNER’S NEW CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS RECEIVES CRAFTSMANSHIP AWARD FOR ARCHITECTURAL MILLWORK

ROCKVILLE, Maryland, February 6, 2009 – Lerner Enterprises, Washington, D.C.’s largest private real estate developer, is proud to announce that Imperial Woodworking Company of Palatine, Illinois will be accepting an award on behalf of their work completed at Lerner Enterprises new corporate headquarters at 2000 Tower Oaks Boulevard in Rockville, Maryland.  The Washington Building Congress has awarded Imperial who was nominated by HITT Contracting, Inc. of Fairfax, Virginia    a craftsmanship award for Woods & Plastics: Architectural Millwork.  The award winning millwork was fabricated using FSC-certified (Forest Stewardship Council) pearwood.

HITT Contracting, Inc. of Fairfax, Virginia, the general contractor for Lerner’s new 46,000 square-foot corporate headquarters, along with subcontractor Imperial Woodworking were selected to construct the award winning  millwork at Lerner’s headquarters located on the seventh and eighth floors of 2000 Tower Oaks Boulevard.  Lerner’s headquarters was designed by Gensler Associates of Washington, DC, and in addition to the award winning millwork, includes other notable eco-friendly elements including Energy Star appliances, integration of daylight harvesting controls and the use of recycled drywall, carpet fiber and backing among other materials.  The offices were designed to meet the criteria to achieve a LEED Gold certification.

The Washington Building Congress (WBC) will be honoring the craftsmen at their annual banquet on March 27, 2009 at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, DC.  WBC is a 900-member strong association of companies and individuals dedicated to the highest standards and practices in the real estate design, and construction industries of the Washington, DC metropolitan area.  The WBC Craftsmanship Committee acknowledges the efforts of local craftspeople and their continued dedication to quality workmanship.
