Rockville, Maryland, September 25, 2009 - Lerner Enterprises, Washington, D.C.'s largest private real estate developer, and The Tower Companies, the largest Green Builder in the Nation’s Capital, both of Rockville, Maryland, announced today that Nancy Floreen, Council member of the Montgomery County (Maryland) Council, presented a proclamation certifying 2000 Tower Oaks Boulevard as the first commercial multi-tenant USGBC LEED® Platinum office building in the State of Maryland. The proclamation was received by Arthur N. Fuccillo, Executive Vice President of Development and Construction for Lerner and David Borchardt, Director of Sustainable Design for The Tower Companies, joint developers of 2000 Tower Oaks Boulevard on Tuesday, September 22nd.
In April 2009, 2000 Tower Oaks Boulevard was officially certified as LEED® Platinum Core and Shell 2.0 – by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), making it the first multi-tenant commercial office property to achieve this designation in the Washington, Maryland and Virginia area. In addition, 2000 Tower Oaks Boulevard was recently certified as one of the first LEED® Platinum office buildings in the State of Maryland.
